Artist Statement
“I try to live by these ideas as I paint…..
To draw well to create a strong basis for my paintings.
To use technique to problem solve and ensure the quality.
To paint as beautiful as possible every single time.
And…. to paint a lot.
This is my training as an artist and I try to bring these ideas to my
easel every time I paint.
What I love to paint is everything. I love the mystery of an old master
still life using light and an old master color palette. I love creating
a contemporary still life with all their bright and high key colors. I
paint flowers in all their glory and paint them as much as possible. And
my secret for a great landscape is to be outside painting with my friends,
enjoying the solitude of my space and the complete joy of our conversations.”
Biography
Deborah has been an artist and teacher in the pioneer valley since 1993. Her work has been exhibited in gallery and venues throughout New England. She has won numerous awards, sells and commissions extensively.
Deborah teaches classes and private lessons year round in her Lincoln Street Studio. She teaches all mediums and her students have had great success in their art careers. She believes that there is a science to art and it should be taught to bring paintings to a new level.
Deborah began as a portrait artist and worked with clients for 10 years. She branched out to other avenues in art including still life and landscapes to increase her skills as an artist. She creates paintings that are photorealistic, impressionistic and abstract. She believes that this creates a well rounded and skilled artist.
